HCF and Nexus supporting the Ministry of Health National TB Programme to reach rural and remote communities
HCF and Nexus AI CXR are supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Health National TB Programme, with Global Fund support, to expand access to TB and lung health screening at rural and remote healthcare facilities. Combining Nexus AI-assisted chest X-ray screening with HCF’s digital platform strengthens active TB case finding and supports the full patient pathway, from identification and bacteriological confirmation testing to referral, treatment initiation and follow-up. HCF enables real-time patient tracking and aggregated reporting of key programme indicators, helping clinical teams coordinate care and providing the data needed to monitor performance and scale up AI-assisted chest X-ray screening across Côte d’Ivoire.

- Deployment: 19 healthcare facilities equipped with digital chest X-ray machines integrated with HCF and Nexus AI CXR.
- Scale and reach: more than 20 000 screenings annually across the Côte d’Ivoire deployments, in multi-region rural and peri-urban settings.

An integrated screening and care workflow
- Client registration and screening. HCF supports client registration and TB, lung health and wellness screening in line with Côte d’Ivoire’s national screening algorithms.
- AI-assisted chest X-ray screening. Digital chest X-rays are analysed by Nexus AI CXR, indicating any findings that are not consistent with a normal lung field, including findings suggestive of tuberculosis (TB), supporting clinical assessment and decisions on further investigation.
- Bacteriological testing and results. HCF records testing referrals and laboratory results against the patient’s screening record, helping clinical teams track progress from suspected TB to diagnostic confirmation.
- Referral, treatment and follow-up. Clinical teams use HCF to document referrals, track treatment initiation and manage follow-up, maintaining a unified patient record throughout the care pathway.
- Central access and programme reporting. HCF provides authorised Ministry of Health and National TB Programme teams with centralised access to patient and facility data, alongside aggregated reporting of key indicators to support programme monitoring and expansion.
